We pledge to provide you an exciting yet inexpensive alternative to the traditional upland gamebird hunting experience. Rather than driving a long distance, checking into a motel, trying to find some landowner that will give you permission to hunt on his land, and walk a long distance with no guarantee of having even one good shot at a pheasant or quail, we offer you an expanded hunting season, almost 2000 acres of quality hunting terrain, and plenty of shooting action. The 2008-2009 hunting season will be our seventh as a controlled hunting area and we are proud to offer to you not only the finest upland game bird hunting experience available anywhere, but we are doing it at affordable rates. After you have had an opportunity to peruse the information contained in our homepage and review the picture tour of our hunting area, we believe you will agree that the schedule of charges for you hunt will be your biggest surprise. But before you jump ahead to the Scheduling a Hunt section, please take your time to read this homepage and take our picture tour.

Ringneck Haven is located in south-central Kansas, near the town of Pretty Prairie, Kansas. Pretty Prairie is a town of about 600 people and is located 25 miles south of Hutchinson, Kansas, and 50 miles west of Wichita, Kansas. Our central location and proximity to Wichita’s Mid Continent Airport make us an ideal destination for those of you from outside Kansas, and we are within a reasonable driving distance of all the major cities in Kansas. For those of you flying into Kansas from another state, transportation can be arranged from the Mid Continent Airport, and while Ringneck Haven does not offer lodging, suitable accommodations are available in Pretty Prairie, Hutchinson, Wichita, or in nearby Kingman, Kansas, at reasonable charges.

Our hunting area consists of almost 2000acres of prime hunting land, with more to be added in the future. Currently, our controlled hunting area consists of an excellent mix of hunting terrain, ranging from CRP grass to grass covered draws to irrigated corn and soybean fields that draw wild game from a wide area to complement our released birds to guarantee you a first-rate hunting experience. The primary area in the preserve is bisected by a spring fed creek that supports and attracts not only upland game birds, but a good supply of white tailed deer, wild turkeys and migratory waterfowl.

When you move on to our Picture Tour section, you will see representative samples of the type of terrain and cover you will be hunting. We can specifically tailor your hunt to the type of terrain you prefer to hunt, whether it be easy walking smaller areas or the wider spaces and longer walks of a CRP grass hunt for the big roosters. For your convenience and to make your experience the best it can be, our schedule of charges includes guide service and the use of our experienced hunting dogs if you wish. For those of you uncertain of whether a guide service is really needed, please keep in mind that our facility is also a fully operational irrigated farming and cattle operation, and for your safety as well as the well-being of our crops and livestock, we must insist that you make use of our guide service. Of course, if you want to bring your own dogs, we encourage you to do so and kennel facilities will be provided at no charge. We also have types of terrain that can be hunted very successfully by as few as two persons, and terrain that will accommodate groups of 6 or more. We also encourage you to bring your young hunters along. The fast action and plentiful shooting opportunities available in our controlled shooting area is a great way to introduce your next generation to the excitement and rewards of hunting.
