EGGS, CHICKS, AND BIRDS
Ringneck Haven began operations in 2002, and like most new businesses, we started out slow and steady, trying to make sure we provided our clients with the best hunt available, and concentrating on just that one goal. Therefore, we chose to purchase all of our birds from reputable growers rather that try to raise our own birds in additional to learning the hunting business. Our clients will attest to the fact that we are providing a top quality hunting experience, with almost every hunter having returned for additional hunts or referring their friends and neighbors to us as clients. We began the process of selectively raising our own pheasant and quail in 2003, and we believe we are now poised to begin offering for sale some of the finest, most explosive, quail and pheasant available anywhere.
In our experience, there are three key ingredients that go into raising a quality game bird that will act and fly like its wild cousin. The first is genetics. Birds that are uniform in size, being neither too small nor too large is important, and this trait is governed by genetics. The second key ingredient is nutrition. We do not cut corners on the nutritional needs of our birds, assuring that they will be both properly muscled and feathered. Our feed is specially prepared by a local mill to our specifications on an as-needed basis, assuring that the nutrients are fresh and easily digestible by the birds. The last key ingredient is large flight pens that are not overcrowded with birds and that are isolated from casual human contact. As our hunters will attest, our birds retain their exceptional feathering and flight conditioning right up until their release.
We are specializing in fully flight conditioned quail. We practice strict isolation brooding for the first few weeks of life, assuring that our quail retain the explosive flight characteristics of wild quail. We have discovered that most quail breeders have quality genetics and nutrition. What sets us apart is the way we raise our quail. We strive to never let our quail see a human body during the first 4-5 weeks of its life, after which time it will go into one of our spacious flight pens, which are a minimum of 150’ in length and are set up so that we seldom have to enter the pen until it is time to fill your order for birds. It costs a little more to raise a quail this way, but we won’t sell a flight conditioned bird that we wouldn’t use ourselves. At this time we are still somewhat limited in capacity, so early bookings of your quail order is highly recommended. Please call for our current competitive prices on eggs, chicks and flight-conditioned adult quail.
Our pheasant breeding program is now in full swing, and our quality is second to none. We are in an area with a large population of wild birds, and it is gratifying to us to hear our hunters sit around after a days hunt, take a good look at the birds they have harvested, and try to figure out which ones are wild birds, which ones are our released birds, and if they could tell the difference by how they flew that day. Usually, they can’t tell them apart unless we give them some help. Our success in raising hardy, flight ready birds is primarily based upon our placing them in large flight pens at an early age, assuring that they will reach their maximum genetic potential in feathering and muscle development. We have now grown to the point we can offer pheasant for sale to you, whether you are a hobby raiser of pheasant or quail, are re-establishing a wild bird population on your farm, or are operating your own hunting area or club. Since you will be buying the same birds our hunting customers are so satisfied with, we are certain your customers will be satisfied also. Whether you are looking for eggs, day old chicks, or flight conditioned adult pheasant, we can meet your needs. Eggs and chicks are shipped USPS Priority Mail, and you can pick up your adult bird order or we can deliver. Call for current pricing, and remember that the further in advance your order is made, the better we can plan our hatchery season, and we can reward you with a lower net price on your order.
